Bit of a quiz - When, where and who?

Came across some random slides that were used in the Daily News and then returned to me ... I have some idea of where ... a little bit of when ... no idea of who

So here's a bit of fun for those who like to guess ... only I don't know the answers. Hoping between a few ageing mates there will be some consensus[1].

• Consensus seems to be leading us to "Number One" on the Hela Hela (a.k.a. Hella Hella) to St Josephine's stretch of the Umkomaas River. The year was probably 1977 but could be a year either way.
